- A beat is a type of rhythm.
- A beat is counted at the even speed of a particular pulse in the music. When this happens, a beat is then called “the beat” (more on this later; move forward for now).
- A beat is different from a pulse because it can be loud or quiet and does not have to sound the same all the time.
- A beat is made with many pulses that are different from one another.
- In a beat, more than one pulse can sound at a time.
